I’ve been returning to owls again and again in my work, exploring how textiles can bring new layers of meaning, character and story to these familiar creatures.
The Totem Owl Headdress is screen-printed in navy blue on cream surplus theatre linen, lined with indigo dyed cotton featuring resist-dyed spots, and finished with navy satin ribbons.
Each headdress begins with an original illustration by Sara Lowes, screen-printed and handmade using a rich combination of surplus theatre fabrics, vintage sari silks and trims, and Indian block-printed cottons and silks.

Due to the handmade nature of each piece, slight variations may occur, making every headdress unique.

The headdress ties around the head with satin ribbons, allowing it to be adjusted for a comfortable fit.
